Purpose
Facilitate learning experiences for allied health and medical students to improve job placement, reduce health disparities, and improve patient outcomes.
Goals

Develop strong relationships with colleges, universities, government agencies, and healthcare organizations.

Build skills in population health, value based care, care management, and patient engagement

Establish strategies that will support long-term career planning; including graduate school admissions, interviewing, resume writing, certifications, and job searching.

Foster cultural competence by working with a diverse patient population.
Qualifications
All students must be actively enrolled and have good standing with an accredited four-year college or university. Preferred academic programs are Public Health, Healthcare Management, Health Education, Health Information Technology, Nursing, Physician’s Assistant, and Medicine.
Duration
All internships and practice experiences will last one (1) academic semester. However, students are allowed to complete more than one internship.
What to Expect

Direct engagement with patients, healthcare professionals, and IT specialists.

Independent assignments to address patient engagement, disease management, population health, and increasing awareness of value based care.

Opportunities to explore and utilize health information technology to enhance performance, patient engagement, and reporting.

Customized training, discussions, interview coaching, and resume writing clinics to prepare for future professional opportunities.
